Create Your Business : To Plan or Not To Plan

Have you noticed that there are two types of people, those who love to schedule and plan
and those who struggle with it?

(c) gaylandeta.com.au

This often goes back to our neurological wiring and even to our usage and perception of time.

Many business advisors will tell you that if you don’t schedule and follow a plan nothing will work. I find it is far better to help my business clients find their own flow and way of working. Either way can work if used effectively. Either way can stop the growth of a business if used ineffectively!

Using this month’s concept of change I challenge you to look at a pattern of behaviour that is less effectual and see if you can shift…

For example if you love to schedule you might be also be very time and future orientated. You quite likely love Read the rest of this entry »

heads up for the 23rd of January….

January 22, 2012

Just a heads up!  Monday is the big New Moon of the year…. Doesn’t matter if you believe or not really, why not clarify what you want in your life and give it a shot!

(from Jan Spillers blog. For more see http://astrologywithjanspiller.com/2012/01/19/new-moon-reminder-monday-january-23-aquarius-239-am-est/

“…NEW MOON REMINDER… Monday, January 23, (5:39 pm Qld time), is the New Moon Power Day in January!  Don’t miss this opportunity to make wishes for goals you’d like to reach and experiences you’d like to have.

Because this New Moon is in the sign of AQUARIUS, it is the most potent New Moon of the year for wishes involving new beginnings in friendships and taking steps to make your larger, life goals and dreams come true.  Things you may have wanted to happen in your life for a long time can begin easily manifesting through using the boost of this friendly and intelligent New Moon.

For success, your wishes must be handwritten on paper and ten wishes maximum are allowed on each power day.  The most potent time is the first 8 hours AFTER the exact time of the New Moon; within the first 48 hours will still work.  The potency continues to exist for another twelve hours, but is weaker….”

So I reckon go for it, write down those wishes, burn them with the intent of manifestation and see what happens! Manifestation does seem pretty immediate at the moment, why not see what could happen….. (and watch out for what you ask for – it might happen!)

Enjoy! Gay

Ground to a Halt? Tips to Beat Inertia

January 14th, 2012

I have a confession to make. I have been suffering from inertia for a few weeks now.

(c) gay landeta 2012

I thought it was just end of year tiredness or boredom or something but I have to accept it is just old fashioned inertia. Can’t be stuffed. All I feel like doing is sleeping! True, I have had early mornings with puppy plus puppy responsibility on top of work so rest is welcome but I do have a couple of things that must get done and they haven’t been. Sleep keeps claiming me!

Don’t get me wrong, sleeping is great and with our super busy life often taking time out, doing nothing and just chilling is not only essential to our physical health but to our emotional and spiritual as well. But sometimes slowing down grinds us to a halt and our resistance to move seems insurmountable. Inertia takes over.

Inertia is not useful and is considered to be one of the 7 blocks on our spiritual path. It is a way we hide from our trueself. Being able to see what needs to happen – not what should, nor what we want but what NEEDS to happen  – and then taking action is fundamental to our growth.

But sometimes shifting forward feels almost impossible. Here are my top tips in identifying and overcoming the dreaded inertia. Work towards answering yes to each before proceeding to the next step. Read the rest of this entry »

Shifting from here to there, how to get over the chasm

Shifting from here to there, how to get over the chasm

by Gay Landeta

D X V X F > R

Commit this formula to memory! Why? Because this formula, sometimes called the Gleicher formula, holds the key to changing what is not working in your life. Once you understand what each component means and how they work together you can use it as fuel instead of sabotage when moving forward. It can become as easy as 2+2=4!

The equation : Remember maths, I know you, too, were probably looking out the window so a quick reminder,  < or > equals greater than or less than. The point of the arrow is the smaller part of the equation. The other  calculation to recall is multiplication: when we multiply (X) we multiply the effect, not just add up the components.

D X V X F > R

R is for Resistance. Resistance is the big block to change. Getting stuck and not moving because of our fears is one of the biggest reason we stay stuck in the same old same old. Staying in the same old same old is fine if we are enjoying it, but not so much fun if we are struggling.

So what are we multiplying so it becomes greater than our Resistance to change?

D: is for Dissatisfaction. We need to feel a certain level of dissatisfaction before we are prepared to move outside our comfort zone. Getting out of stuck usually means moving outside our comfort zone. Often we numb uncomfortable feelings down with working too hard, blocking our feelings, negating our experiences or just the odd glass or 6 of wine.  Any and all distractions can be useful to keep ourselves from actually seeing what in our life is not working. Letting yourself feel dissatisfied is a core component of shifting from here to there.

V: is for Vision. We need to have a vision of where we want to go. Often I hear people say they have no idea of what they want. This is actually not true. It is just clouded too much to see. Often we may not know what it looks like but we do know how it could feel. Once we start to explore our dissatisfaction small glimmers of what could be start to emerge. It is true that sometimes it is just impossible to see what could be, often because if we were shown we would just not believe we could do it. Letting yourself know what you know, no matter how fleeting, and owning it is a start. Be brave and write it down. No one has to see it but you!

F: we need to define what the first steps toward our goal is. Without taking steps, ie action in the outer world, nothing will happen. How many ‘gonna’ stories have we all listened to –  and created. These are fine fantasies however they will not create reality (‘Secret’ or not) without solid steps. Sometimes even taking the so called wrong step will take us in the right direction. Take a step that feels right and then evaluate. Try using your senses, not necessarily your head. It can create too many a limiting stories.

Remember this equation. D X V X F > R  Your Dissatisfaction multiplied by your Vision multiplied by those First steps must be greater than your Resistance.

So do not be afraid to feel your Dissatisfaction.

Nor stop yourself from dreaming your Vision.

And make sure you try something, anything as a First step.

And you will shift your Resistance.

I ask you : How can you apply this to change something in your life that you have been struggling with?

Create your Outcome : Discover what you did

 by Gay Landeta

All too often we spend countless hours trying to figure out how to achieve what we want. Trying to figure out what needs to happen and how can we make it happen. We start to worry and end up feeling stressed and ultra focused on outcome.

But trying doesn’t work, regardless of what anyone says. Even trying your best doesn’t work.. don’t believe me? Try to pick up that pencil. Nope, I didn’t say pick it up I said try. Try your hardest. Keep trying..

Notice what happened? You just put all your energy and focus into picking up that pencil but you did not pick it up. Nothing happened. It just sat there regardless of how hard you tried. You failed in achieving what you wanted. You didn’t pick up that pencil. Because you were trying, not doing.

So what about doing? Have a go at it. Just do it. Pick up the pencil. Sure you picked it up but now what? Doing is certainly important but a why will take us to a whole new level.  Do we want to feel the weight of it in our hand? To chew on while we think? Do we want to practice a magic trick? To draw or write..

Now imagine starting with a goal. “I want to pick up the pencil and draw that seedpod.” You begin to know the steps involved. You need to set up the seed pod, have a drawing pad and the right type of pencil. You might need some lighting and a glass of water, maybe a snack. Trouble is your mind might stop you. “But I am not so good at drawing”

So what if, instead of thinking about the outcome from before you start, you think about it from after you finished? What was it was like to draw? “I picked up a pencil and drew the seedpod. I captured the energy of the pod in my drawing and I loved doing it. First I handled the seedpod and looked at it, started to feel it and decided on using a fat pencil to draw it, etc.”

The end result will be more in line with what you want because you took the time to decipher how it would happen. You will be less likely to berate yourself for not being able to draw because you described drawing a way you knew you could. We are all hyper-aware of our limitations. Taking time to discover what you did means you can adjust for your perceived limitations, figure out what needs to happen to compensate for them or what steps need to happen so they can be overcome.

This works for things you already know how to do but also for things you don’t know how to do but want to – it is also great way to explore your goals for the year.

Unravel the Secret – 7 Steps to Creating your Dreams

by Gay Landeta

1.       CREATE YOUR PLANS:

Creating plans, goals and manifesting our dreams are fantastic things we humans do, they keep up our spirits and give us hope for the future. Spending time with the deepest part of our nature is an important way to know what we want to create in our life. Writing these dreams down, drawing them out or creating a vision board is the crucial next step to achieving them.  There is something about committing things to paper that starts the manifestation process.

7 am Boxing Day 2010, following plans made months in advance, saw me, my partner and my mother-in-law  in my trusty vehicle on the road (only a little behind schedule) to get to Tenterfield for the family Christmas.

2.       CREATE YOUR INFRASTRUCTURE:

The next step to manifesting your dreams is to figure out the resources you have and those you don’t. Put things in place to get where you want to go, build the resources, do the training, try to foresee what may happen and create backup plans to support your goals. Do your best but know you only know what you know. Research, ask questions or find support from someone who has taken the same journey before you to learn more about what you don’t know.

Boxing Day: We had looked at the weather reports and knew the potential for drama was there however we really wanted to go so we apologized again to Albert (the cat who owns us), grabbed a coffee from Cafeine, filled up the tank and started on our journey. Nita had been unwilling to confine Mr Darcy (the cat who owns her) to the comfort of the vet for the week, the minimum time available during the festive season, as he had the disconcerting habit of flinging himself on his back and squealing whenever she left him so she just made sure he had lots of food and water and a clean litter box. It was only going to be overnight. Cunningham’s Gap highway had been closed for some major road work recently but it was open again and all was fine. And there was always the Toowoomba route. Longer but possible.

3.       LET GO OF THE OUTCOME:

Once you are on the journey anything can happen. All you can do is remember your goal and let go of the outcome, what will be will be.

27th am:  After a great Boxing Day together we were all glad to be leaving for our respective homes. The other Brisbane bound vehicle left about 7 and sent us an sms road update at 9 from Warrick, the halfway mark – generally roads wet but clear – so off we set.

Truly – I have never seen such rain. Or so much water. We dodged potholes and marveled at the height of the water on the side of the road. We managed to get over the bridge in Warrick before we were stopped by the Police just north of town. The road to Aratulla and the Gap was closed. No access to the Toowoomba Road and no idea when either would open, it had just become impassable. Our only option was to backtrack and head further down South and ‘try’ the Glen Innes and Grafton route. ‘Might be open’. A four hour journey had just doubled.  And was very likely impossible.

4.       GROWING THROUGH THE JOURNEY:

Often the pursuit of a goal means growth in some way. Facing the challenges and even sitting with the frustration or pain is generally the best option. Ignoring it or pretending it isn’t there means there can be no transformation.

27th pm:  We drove back through town, the inns that had been empty on the trip through were now completely filled and caravans and motor homes lined the roads. We decided to Read the rest of this entry »

have you written down your goals yet for this year?

January 21, 2010

I was reminded today that over 90% of people never write down their goals. 90%! I was shocked… then I remembered that only too recently I was one of those people.

Why not? I guess partly because I wasn’t sure what I wanted, partly because I doubted I could get it even if I was sure and partly because I thought it a waste of time…

….and now several years into regularly writing, reviewing and achieving my goals (or something better) I think of all that energy I wasted!

Now it is true that sometimes I haven’t gotten what I wanted. Sometimes I did but didn’t quite get the results I expected and instead went down a major learning path filled with challenges. Whichever way it has gone looking back it has been soooo worth it!

and each time I write my goals down I get better at it, more clear about what I want and more in tune with my highest expression.

then I thought of a young friend of mine who is having a bit of a tough life at present. He wrote down a few big wishes, just roughly, and stuck them on the wall. You know he made all of them. And some of them seemed absolutely impossible. Just imagine if he dared himself to dream really big about his whole life, perhaps his tough time would pass just a little more quickly.

I think this months ezine will be on goals and goal setting. It will be out end of the month.

Have a great January!

Gay

This months Article: GOALS – ARE YOU ON PURPOSE?
==========================================

By Gay Landeta

Goals – how many times have your heard about the importance of setting your goals?

Do you have clear goals? Do you write them down and make sure they fit in with who you really are, your values and ideals? Do they offer a contribution to the world?

Or do you waft and change – unsure what you want, whether your goals are in line with who you truly are or even if you really care!

There are many different types of goals, some are personal and about getting something you really want, some are focused on a bigger picture, creating something for others; all will impact the world in some way. And all are part of the bigger picture of why you are here.

So : do you know why you are here?

If you are like many people this question is a source of frustration; often that empty, frustrated feeling of a life unfulfilled starts us on a search for something that we believe will solve everything.

In fact we have everything we need right here and now. And often miss seeing it!

For example I had a client recently who was in a very lost place, she felt unfulfilled and that her talents were not only not being utilised but they were not even being recognised. She felt trapped by her earlier decisions and unable to make changes – or even know what changes to make!

In the process of our work together we did the visioning excercise (below). She identified what needed change and started to make goals, both conscious and unconscious and her life started to align more and more to her vision. Some goals crashed and burned, they were not right for her, and some fell into place with elegant synchronicity. She found within a very short length of time she felt on track and clear about what she wanted – and at peace with where she was.

In that place her mission became clear. She actually had known it all along but had not recognised it for the truth it held.

To do the vision exercise all you need a piece of paper (at least A4) and a pencil.

First, make sure you are relaxed and centred and have some time without distrations. Belly Breathing (the Booster of the Month) is a quick and easy tool to help you to relax in the moment.

Draw a circle in the middle of the paper, about the size of your palm, then divide the whole sheet up into sections by drawing a line horizontally through the middle of the sheet from side to side; vertically straight down the middle and diagonally from one top corner to the opposite bottom corner and vice and versa.

You should now have a piece of paper with a pie shape in the middle with the spokes radiation out to the edges of the paper. You should have 8 sections.

Next label each section with important areas of your life, for example Career, Home and Family, Relationships, Finances, Spiritual, Physical Health and Wellbeing, Creativity, Physical Environment. Choose labels that define different aspects of your life that are important to you.

Now consider each segment of your wheel and how fulfilled you feel in that area. Colour in that section in a way that corresponds to your sense of fulfillment. Some areas may be vibrantly filled to the brim, others may have barely any part filled in at all. Some may be filled in fully, but by being so full deplete other areas. Anything is fine at this stage.

You will end up with a pie that is showing you what your life looks like now. Next, moving from section to section, brainstorm words and ideas that would help to positively fill that segment of the pie up.

You are now creating a picture of what you want in your life, take another sheet or two of paper and expand each section out into a vison of how you would like your life to look in a few years time if all those ideas and dreams came into reality.

Notice how much of that vision you already have and spend some time in gratitude for all that you have. Choose three small things to do this month and then just let it go.

Review your progress each month, choose a few more things to do, allow yourself to shift and change and be in the flow of Creating the Life you Want to Live.

Life doesn’t always go according to plan of course, but if you don’t have a plan you have nowhere to go!

Enjoy the Process!

This Month’s Resolve : Clarify your Vision and Create your Life!

==========================================

Booster of the Month :

BELLY BREATHING

Notice how relaxed and centred you are feeling. Are you at ease with yourself and your environment? Are you holding tension anywhere in your body? Are you breathing easily or is your breathing short and shallow? Take a few moments to check in before and after doing the Booster – noticing the positive effects of anything we do means we are more likely to do it again another time when we really need it.

Cradle your belly gently with both hands, take a big breath in and let it go with short bursts, as if you are trying to hold a feather up in the air with your breath. This wakes up the diaphragm and helps us breath more deeply.

Then take two or more deep breaths feeling your belly expanding in your hands as you breath in and contract as you breath out. Focus on the gentle in and out of your breath.

Continue until you feel centred and are breathing easily and naturally with your full breath.

Do this often, train your body to breath easily and fully and notice how much more relaxed life is. The sabre tooth tiger is not longer at the door!
