A little more of reflexes…

Some of the signs of un-integrated reflexes are:

  • Easily distracted
  • Poor abstract reasoning skills
  • Cannot remember more than one thing at a time
  • suffering from motion sickness
  • over emotional or bad tempered
  • poor stamina, may have cycles of hyperactivity followed by excessive fatigue
  • tight, tense, often with curled fingers or grinding of teeth
  • eye-hand coordination difficulties
  • eyesight problems, particularly converging, tracking and fixating
  • poor coordination
  • leans rather than standing or sitting straight
  • constantly moving
  • clumsy
  • reversals, difficulty reading

What can we do about it? Move! Too much sitting, especially in front of computers, TV’s and gaming stations definitely stops or slows down the natural integration we experience through movement. Those of us who prefer not to move too much could well have some of these reflexes implicated. Movement is quite stressful when a number of these reflexes are un-integrated. Make sure you take daily exercise; incidental movement like taking the stairs is great. Yoga is also an excellent way to help work through developmental processes.

One of the simplest ways to work through these is to use Brain Gym® movements on a day to day basis, they stimulate the natural growth and integration of these reflexes. You can learn these in the Brain Gym 101 workshop or, in a private session, I can test twelve of the most important reflexes to see whether any of these could be causing difficulties. We can determine the Brain Gym that would suit you best or, if there are a number of issues present, my Learn Smart Program may be the most effective way to go.

Whatever you do recognize the importance of movement in daily life, reflexes or not! And integrate it into your life as much as possible – as Paul Dennison PhD (Brain Gym founder) says ‘Movement is the door to Learning’. And let’s face it we learn every day, all the time.

Keep on movin’!

How to support change?

As you shift through transition times it is important to keep clearing your energy. Did you know bathing or showering with salt is a great way to cleanse your energy? (Think about how you feel after a dip in the sea – can’t guarantee it is that refreshing but it is good!) Just grab a handful of sea salt in a washcloth or, better still, throw it into the bath. I do have bathing bags of the wonderful pink Himalayan salt in stock. I also have started to carry Himalayan Salt Lamps (starting from $35) to help with ionizing and energizing a room, particularly helpful for those with any breathing difficulties such as asthma, bronchitis, etc. This is especially important in the cooler darker months as we spend more time inside.

Another great way to ionize the air is beeswax candles. I use and stock wonderful ones that are ethically produced in the Northern Rivers. My mother is a beekeeper and one of my greatest times with her was leaning against one of her hives listening to the humming of a healthy colony. And one of the saddest times was opening a hive decimated by one of the ‘bee issues’ abounding. Bees are fundamental to the future of the planet and ethical beekeepers nurture and increase the bee population. That means buying ethically produced beeswax candles are not only good for you (no toxic fumes from paraffin or other man made wax) but also help the planet. Have a look next time you are in.

I wish for you, during this next period of growth, that you can create what you need in your life, whether it is focus or momentum to move forward, acceptance or peace in the moment or forgiveness and letting go of the past. And if we can help, with workshops, meditation nights or sessions with me, Donald, Silvana or our new practitioner Therezze then we would love to see you!

Practice for change Your change check in…..

By gay landeta

Finally, it is time to deal with your feelings. To prepare write out a list of the things that help you get over uncomfortable feelings. Deep breathing, meditation, creativity, Rescue Remedy, watching junk TV, whatever works for you.

Once you have your list (BTW this is a really useful thing to have stuck to your fridge!) go back to the previous two steps checking in on your action or avoidance and how you are thinking about things.

Notice how you feel. There will be some feelings, possibly joy but more likely anything from vaguely uncomfortable to actively angry, frustrated or ??? Recognise these feelings are the emotional impact of change – and probably why you haven’t made the switch already!

Use your list to calm yourself or, if you can, just sit with them. *But remember you must keep taking action and practice thinking in new and positive ways while you are doing all this feeling of the pain.* (A bit like rubbing your tummy while you pat your head!)

And if this doesn’t work then you may well have given it your best shot. Don’t feel a failure if you decide to chat with a professional. Change is hard and seeing what is missing from the inside is often extremely difficult. Often that external perspective will help you to see what you might be missing in your recipe for change. And because you have done the groundwork you can go straight for gold.

Good luck!

Practice for change – Your change check in…..

By gay landeta

How are you going?

If you are still sticking check in to your thoughts. Are you thinking positively about the change you are trying to make? Are your thoughts and feelings in alignment with that ‘new you’ ‘new action’ that you are creating?

You might need to write your thoughts and feelings out to really get a good perspective on how supportive of your change they are. A good time to do this is first thing in the morning. once you have dumped you can have a look through and see if there are any thoughts that could do with a correction. Then write the opposite or corrected thought process and practice these often (classic example “I am a non-smoker’ instead of ‘I hate smoking I wish I could stop but I just can’t’).

Once your thoughts are positive and in alignment then give yourself another tick!

If you are not changing something you know you want to stop and think about what action you need to take. Is there something that you are not doing? Write that down.

Once you are doing everything you can then tick that box! If you balk at doing something time to get to the bottom of why you won’t do it. What processes have you used in the past to help you get over that avoidance bump in the road?

The Two Wolves

a Cherokee Legend (and one of my favourites)

(c) gaylandeta

An old Cherokee is teaching his grandson about life. “A fight is going on inside me,” he said to the boy.

“It is a terrible fight and it is between two wolves. One is evil - he is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.”

He continued, “The other is good – he is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith. The same fight is going on inside you – and inside every other person, too.”

The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather, “Which wolf will win?”

The old Cherokee simply replied, “The one you feed.”

This Month’s Resolve: I choose the Right wolf!

Change – A Cheat Sheet

Change is something we talk a lot about, especially in this uncertain world.

(c) gaylandeta.com.au

Sometimes we are afraid of upcoming change, other times we start actively seeking it. And sometimes change is instigated by someone we love or someone with power (like a boss) requesting us to change. Regardless of where the change has been initiated, understanding the process of change helps us to feel empowered in our life.

Firstly we must change our actions, what we are actually doing. If we continue to do the same thing nothing will change. The more we choose to change the quicker the change will be.  For example, if I want to lose weight I better not buy that inviting croissant in the coffee shop!

Secondly we must change how we are thinking and feeling about the change.  For each action we change we must explore the accompanying feelings and thoughts and take action to ensure they are in alignment with our new actions. To continue my example, if I decide not to buy that croissant and instead buy an apple I must think about how yummy it is and how good it makes me feel.

And finally we must sit with the unwanted feelings and thoughts that will come up when we do make a change. If that croissant was emotional eating the feelings that I was trying to cover up will bubble through if I get an apple instead and I will need to deal with them.  Even if it was just desire I might start to obsess about it and have to deal with those thoughts!
If we don’t cover all three of these actions then we won’t change and things might well get worse.

What if we can only do one or two of the three? Then we will look like we are changing but we are not. Might be useful if the boss wants us to change something that we know will make things harder (!!), but not much good elsewhere.

For example if I eat a croissant everyday my clothes will likely stop fitting. If I don’t change my thoughts to include a change of perspective I will not enjoy my alternate choice and will eventually go back to a less healthy choice.

If I do not learn to sit and deal with the uncomfortable emotions and thoughts that changing my actions instigated I will just substitute something else that will very likely be even less good for me.

How fast we can change our actions and our thoughts and feelings will dictate how fast we can action change our life.

So next time you decide to change something have a plan to do so. Decide how you will change your actions, what new thoughts you will need to cultivate and most importantly how you will deal with any uncomfortable thoughts or feelings that emerge.

Good luck!

All the best, Gay

Opening To Possibilities

Back in ’98 I spent 10 days in a leadership program.

(c) gaylandeta.com.au

We went through many processes to break our preconceived notions of possibility including walking on glass, karate chopping boards and bending lengths of reinforced steel but the most interesting was the fire-walking experience.

This was not the Tony Robins process using NLP to change your thoughts, instead we spent time raising our energy until it met the fire and we walked it. We did it several times so proved time after time that it actually was possible; and what the mind believed, that the fire was too hot to walk on, was just not true.

The process involved building a circular fire of about 4 or so metres in radius. It would burn all day until it was red hot.  We then stood in silence around it, connecting to the inner strength and power that we had been nurturing and building during our stay.

I am a bit of a cynic so my mind thought long and hard about what was happening, considered that perhaps the fire was not as hot as I thought, or maybe the ashes were protecting our feet, or the wood was a certain type… My mind tried to worm its way out of breaking down its preconceived notions in every way possible but in the end I had to believe the reality – the fire was damn hot and we walked it. Regardless of whether we used Iron Bark or Pine, those coals were red hot and could easily cook a very nice steak.

The really special thing I learnt though, was about the moment of certainty. As we stood around the fire and built the energy, a moment would come when the fire welcomed us. I still remember standing there, feeling the heat of the fire on my face (glad I was wearing cotton because the heat from the fire would have melted synthetics!). As I  gathered myself, centered and feeling into the fire a window opened. The fire was no longer hot and at that moment you had to back yourself and your intention to walk the fire and just do it.

If you hesitated the window closed and the fire was too hot to bear once again. It was an individual process. No one could help you know when to go. We could be encouraged and offered processes to build the energy but only the individual could know when the right time was for them to walk. Walk before you were ready and you got burnt. As my friend found out.

I do think this is analogy is true in any situation. There is a moment when something can happen easily. A window opens and something that felt too hard a moment before suddenly becomes simple. The trick is to recognize that moment.

The big question is, how can we recognize and be open to that moment and all the limitless possibilities it offers?

First, suspend belief. Our brain is designed to help us stay safe. That means it is very good at learning from the past, identifying potential danger and keeping us well away from it.

To overcome this we must recognize that what our mind tells us is just a construct and may not, in fact, be true. Or at least it may not be true in every situation. So, in the fire-walking situation my belief that fire is hot and burns when you touch it, learnt very specifically as a toddler determined to put my hand onto the hot stove and reinforced many times over the years, had to be suspended. I had to be open to the possibility that what my brain and all my instincts were telling me was not necessarily true. That was the only way I could experience walking on fire.

Secondly, know you can do it. Once you have suspended your belief you must do the internal work to KNOW without a doubt that you can do this. This is the primary work of manifesting anything.

Third, be open to taking the step when the moment arises. You must be courageous and take the step as it presents itself. But not before you are ready or you might get burnt! How can you tell? Well, you wait until you feel the window open.

You also need to be open to knowing if the step is at the right time. If you have misjudged then you may need to step back and build more energy. It is fortunate that we are rarely actually walking on fire so with practice in less dangerous circumstances you begin to identify what it feels like when the window opens. You will then be ready for the fire!

Fourth, make sure you know how to centre and remain centered no matter what the fire looks like. Walking through the fire there is a moment when you are half way across, if you stop to consider what you are doing, or be amazed, it is very likely those feet will burn. If you have stepped forward and decided to walk you must back yourself, back your decision and keep moving, walking with confidence, remaining centered.

By mastering working with the open window you no longer need to be constrained by your limited mind. Nice.

If you are having trouble staying centered, or finding that place of opportunity, kinesiology can help! Give me a ring on 0418 795 135 or to book call my wonderful assistant Korryn on 3102 5831.

7 Patterns that Can Stop You in Your Tracks!

May 15th, 2012

lots of great responses from my eZine article last month…….. hope you enjoy it!

Gay

These 7 patterns can absolutely stop us in our tracks.

(c)gaylandeta.com.au
The first step is to identify what is stopping you, then next to break the pattern.

The first and the one that can keep us on the brink of our next step (sometimes for years) is called the Dweller on the Threshold’ This is all about being stuck. When we are in this pattern we become caught in beliefs like: ‘Something or someone is preventing me from moving forward’ or ‘Nothing feels possible’. When we are stuck we are in the way of our own self, our little personality is stopping the True Self from stepping forward.

To move out of this position we have to commit to the bigger plan of our life. It is time to stop being small and start trusting in our True Self and the journey we are on.
The next pattern is Illusion. In this pattern we are cheating ourself and are caught in the illusion of reality instead of seeing reality. We are fooling ourself, taking action without really knowing what we are doing, following blindly and judging instead of using our powers of discernment. We become identified with an idea, an opinion and information instead of being clear about what we want, being honest about where we are and making a choice based on truth.
In Uncertainty fear becomes our controller. Instead we need to step up and take responsibility and dare to see. We must develop the courage to use our inner senses and break old patterns such as fight or flight and a lack of decision and action.
The pattern of Inertia is apparent when we are hiding from our self, becoming too busy or procrastinating. The route out of this pattern is to simply see the essentials and act accordingly. We can choose to do it with pain (moaning and groaning) or with goodwill – my suggestion is to use the goodwill track! Feels much easier.
The next pattern is Blindness. When we are caught in this trap Read the rest of this entry »

Heads up! Full Moon followed by 11:11

November 10, 2011

This went out to my private clients last night, and I thought I might post it here as well just in case you keep in touch by RSS…. If you aren’t a client but want to stay in touch join me on facebook!

11:11:11  is coming up – a day strongly aspected with 11 symbology. In addition to the numerological significance (11 is said to be a master number) there has been much written about the 11:11 doorway which is part of the December 2012 mythology.  All of these dates and events are said to be opening us up to higher dimensions and better ways of being. Certainly I am seeing people working with major transformations right now in the clinic.

We also have the added bonus of the 11th directly following the full moon (letting go!) that happens on the 10th.

I feel that the interesting thing about any of these dates is the impact that we can have if we work with them…. Research proves that only 1% of people are needed to change anything…. Imagine how many people will be meditating for peace on the 11th or doing something spiritually enlightening? I would invite you to join by spending a few minutes in silence at 11:11. If that won’t work how about stopping sometime at 11 minutes after the hour – you will be joining others somewhere in the world! Another neat idea could be to spend a few moments each hour at 11 minutes past! Just set your phone or watch for hourly reminders.

Another very cool thing that is taking place on 11:11:11 is the media event One Day on Earth, where people all over the world will record their human experience over a 24-hour period. This event will enable them to contribute their voice to the second annual global day of media creation. You can be part of it by signing up at One Day on Earth

I just got a new bff – a puppy (you probably know if you have friended me on facebook or joined my like page https://www.facebook.com/Createthelifeyouwanttolive ) … she’s been on my wish list for a few years and she just waltzed into my life… watching her has reminded me of the wisdom of just taking life a wiggle at a time!

Whatever you do Friday – or every day – enjoy it a wiggle at a time! :)

Wishing you all the best,
Gay

PS just been organising dates and others things including :

v  Create your Year dates for January
v  Rhythmic Movement dates for February
v  Create your Business – Laser Mentoring sessions
v  Online shop open – bonus options …
v  And Create birthday celebration …
v  And more….

If you can’t wait email me for info, otherwise expect the next ‘What’s On’ to arrive soon – I just wanted this heads up out before the 11th!
